It rained for a lot of the day during the drive. We witnessed an accident on the road right in front of us.
There was a big rv pulling a large car with bikes attached to the back and kayaks on the roof, then there was a tour bus and then us. We saw a bicyclest on the road in front of the rv and traffic coming the other way so the rv couldn't pull out to pass and had to slow down and the bus drove into the back of the car being towed, The bikes went flying, the back window was completely blown out and the car was pushed into the back of the rv. What a mess. The bike person was on the road and not on the paved shoulder, he caused the accident and he kept on going, the bike did not stop. We stopped to make sure everybody was ok. No injuries in the rv, we didn't go up to the bus but I assume no one was hurt. We knocked on the window of the rv and a woman came out, her husband was already running up to the bus probably to get the busted bikes off the road. She was shaking but ok. We gave her our name, # and email. There was no service on her cell but the bus probably had a satalite phone. So we went on our way. I think the car was a right off. We left and did not see the bike or we would have stopped to tell him what happened. There was a park not too ahead and I suspect he went in there and hid and did something rude in his pants. The rest of trip was fine.
We stopped in a little town Talkeetna, where climbers come to get ready for Mt. McKinley. There is climbers cemetery, either there or in Anchorage, can't remember which. The sun actually came out for a bit, but not enough to see "The Big One" as they say.
Then we drove on to Anchorage. We are actually staying outside in a place called Wasilla, yup its where the Palins live. Wasilla spelt backwards is all I saw. We went into Anchorage the next day, Saturday and a cruise ship must have been in, very busy. We walked around and saw the sites. A million tourist shops and restaurants. We ended up in a craft beer restaurant and watched people fight for tables, very amusing. We shared a king crab app - yummy. Then Bill had a pizza with reindeer on it. I had the crusts. He said it was really good.
Sunday we went back to Anchorage because we had to get a picture of Mulcahy Stadium. The Anchorage Bucs play there and some famous players have played here and on to the majors. There was a game but not the Bucs. The cruise ship had left and what a difference.
Today Monday, back into Anchorage. Had to go and pick up our reservations for the Ferry. We will be driving 2 days, some a repeat of what we have already driven, to get to Haines for the 11th. Board the ferry and sailing for about 5 hours and get off in Juneau. We spend one night there and plenty of time to check it out. On the 12th we board the ferry to go to Prince Rupert, BC. We arrive there on Aug 14th in the afternoon. We have a cabin on the ferry, I think its bunk beds and guess who is sleeping on top - not me. I might fall out.
I think all this rain and grey skies caught up to us because this is the first day since we left that we had a nap. Time for some pictures.

This is the last blog for a few days. I'll probably update it after the ferry in Juneau. Don't know if the ferry has wifi. But we have a bathroom in our cabin and that's the important part.
Bill is loading up the truck so we can take off early tomorrow. I just realized the Mulcahy Stadium pics are here. I'll post them now on another blog.
Cheers, nrm & bam
